The Last Will

The Last Will

William Shakespeare has retired to his country home on Stratford and is grappling with the final stages of a fatal illness in this world premiere of The Last Will. Written by award-winning playwright Robert Brustein (The English Channel, Mortal Terror), The Last Will imagines Shakespeare struggling to deal with his deteriorating mind as fact and fiction blur and he begins acting as a character in his own plays. When Richard Burbage, the leader of Shakespeare's acting company, tries to get the renowned playwright to return to London and to playwriting, Shakespeare must further wrestle with his suspicions, delusions, family resentments, regrets and final testaments. Steve Maler directs this joint production of Commonwealth Shakespeare Company and Suffolk University.
