Uncommon Women and Others

When you are told you can do anything, be anyone, how do you decide? What path do you choose? Does it mean you must always lead? These are the questions Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Wendy Wasserstein posed in Uncommon Women and Others, which unfolds at Emerson College's Paramount Center. Six years after graduation, seven alumna of Mount Holyoke College meet for an impromptu reunion lunch to relive their college days. They measure their youthful dreams for the future against the realities they've found after graduation. Premiering in 1977, Uncommon Women was the first play written by Wasserstein, whose body of Tony-winning work is credited with changing the way contemporary women were presented onstage.
