Kathleen Cahill's new drama explores the charged relationships between two different generations of American and Iranian women. The drama plays out during the 1980 Iranian hostage crisis between an American woman and her captor and picks up thirty years later when the women's daughters meet by chance in an empty classroom at Columbia University during the visit of Iranian President Ahmadinejad. The Persian Quarter looks at how differences in belief, gender, generation, language, politics and history shape our personal identities and how difficult, but worthwhile it is to cross that cultural divide.
