Huntington Announces Special Events Lineup for Winnie Holzman's Choice
Alongside their production of WICKED book writer Winnie Holzman's new play CHOICE, the Huntington Theatre Company will host a number of special events and post-show conversations.
Admission to onsite post-show events is free with a ticket to CHOICE, available at huntingtontheatre.org/choice by phone at 617 266 0800, or in person at the BU Theatre (264 Huntington Avenue) and Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA (527 Tremont Street) box offices. Boston Globe Magazine columnist Robin Abrahams (aka "Miss Conduct") will lead a post-show talkback on the choices we make with playwright Winnie Holzman. Tickets to the 10/17 performance are $45 for Boston Globe subscribers who use the discount code BGEVENT.
Robin Abrahams writes the popular "Miss Conduct" social advice column for the Boston Globe Magazine, and is the author of the book Miss Conduct's Mind Over Manners, a guide to social life in 21st century America. She works as a researcher at Harvard Business School and has co-authored articles in the Harvard Business Review, Sloan Management Review, and The Wall Street Journal. A Cambridge resident with a PhD in research psychology from Boston University, her previous jobs include theatre publicist, organizational-change communications manager, editor, stand-up comedian, and professor of psychology and writing. Winnie Holzman (Playwright) is the writer (with songwriter Stephen Schwartz) of the hit musical Wicked. She got her start writing for the television drama "thirtysomething," and went on to create the series "My So-Called Life" starring Claire Danes. She also executive produced (again with Marshall Herskovitz and Edward Zwick) the series "Once and Again" and (with her daughter, Savannah Dooley) the ABC Family series "Huge." Her film credits include 'Til There Was You. Other theatre credits include the musical Birds of Paradise and a 10-minute play called Post-its: Notes on a Marriage, written with her husband, actor Paul Dooley. They recently collaborated on their first full-length play, Assisted Living. Sometimes recognized as the chocolate-obsessed woman in the movie Jerry Maguire and as Larry David's wife's therapist on "Curb Your Enthusiasm," Ms. Holzman is a graduate of Princeton University, holds an MFA from the New York University's musical theatre program, and is a member of the Dramatists Guild. She is currently collaborating with Cameron Crowe on a new series for Showtime.

Join Huntington dramaturg Charles Haugland and Judith Wilt, founding member of the Women's Studies Program at Boston College, for an in depth discussion about themes and subject matter in CHOICE following the 2pm performance. Humanities Forums are presented in conjunction with all Huntington productions.
Judith Wilt has degrees from Duquesne University and Indiana University and taught at Princeton University before coming to Boston College in 1978. She was a founding member of the Women's Studies Program, chair of the English Department from 1990-1996, and became the Newton College Alumnae Chair in Western Culture in 2002. She teaches and writes on nineteenth century British fiction, women's writing, religion, and literature, and popular culture genres, especially Gothic fiction. Her books include Abortion, CHOICE and Contemporary Fiction; Women Writers and the Hero of Romance; and Ghosts of the Gothic: Austen, Eliot, and Lawrence.

Join Huntington Director of New Work Lisa Timmel and Judy Norsigian, co-founder of Our Bodies Ourselves, for a compelling conversation about CHOICE and women's reproductive health and rights following the 2pm performance.
Judy Norsigian is a co-founder of Our Bodies Ourselves and also served as executive director of the organization from 2001-2015. In a volunteer capacity, she now continues to advise OBOS staff and helps with fundraising for OBOS projects. An internationally renowned speaker and author on a range of women's health concerns, her areas of focus include women and health care reform, abortion and contraception, childbirth (especially the role of midwifery), genetics and reproductive technologies, and drug and device safety. She has appeared on numerous national television and radio programs, including "NBC Nightly News," "Al Jazeera," "The Today Show," "Good Morning America," "The Early Show," "Oprah," "Fox News," and "The Current." Judy graduated from Radcliffe College in 1970. She lives in Newton.

Robin Bernstein is Professor of Studies of Women, Gender, and Sexuality and of African and African-American Studies at Harvard University. Her books include Racial Innocence: Performing American Childhood from Slavery to Civil Rights, which won five awards, the edited anthology Cast Out: Queer Lives in Theater, and a Jewish feminist children's book titled Terrible, Terrible! She is currently writing a book titled White Angels, Black Threats: How Stories about Childhood Innocence Influence What We See, Think, and Feel about Race in America.
