Miss Penitentiary at Boston Playwrights' Theatre

The exciting young playwright Laura Neubauer is making good on her promise to transform Boston into a hub for new play development. After winning several national honors, Neubauer brings to her newest play, Miss Penitentiary, to the stage at Maiden Phoenix Theatre Company. In the International Penitentiary for the Individually Incarcerated, all the inmates are guilty of the same charge. Their crime? They were born women, and there is but one way to freedom: winning the annual jailhouse beauty pageant. But this year, one inmate seeks a less conventional escape.
