Bat Boy: The Musical

Bat Boy: The Musical

Farkas Hall
10-12 Holyoke Street Cambridge

This musical-comedy cult favorite comes to Harvard boasting new scenes and songs developed specifically for this university production by the original writers, including Tony-nominated composer and Harvard alum Laurence O'Keefe. Ripped from an actual headline of the Weekly World News tabloid, this award-winning Off-Broadway hit tells the story of a half-human/half-bat boy who's discovered in a West Virginia cave and brought to the home of the local veterinarian, where he's accepted and taught to act like a "normal" boy. But the rest of the townsfolk aren't so amenable to their new neighbor, and when local children start mysteriously dying, the Bat Boy isn't the only one who's out for blood. With its clever production numbers, infectious pop-rock score, surprising twists and a message about acceptance, this frightfully funny spoof is a classic love story with a wicked bite.
