The Boston Common, also known as the Common, is a central park in downtown Boston. Sometimes it is incorrectly called the Boston Commons. It is the oldest American city park. Boston Common is 50 acres of land bordered by Tremont Street (139 Tremont St.), Park Street Beacon Street Charles Street and Boylston Street. The Common is part the Emerald Necklace, a network of parks and paths that runs from the Common southward to Franklin Park in Jamaica Plain and Roxbury, Dorchester, and Dorchester. The Tremont Street side of Boston Park houses a visitors' center.
