The House of Blue Leaves at Ruth Nagel Jones Theatre

A madcap array of characters collide during Pope Paul VI's historic 1965 visit to New York City in the Tony Award-nominated black comedy The House of Blue Leaves. Among the play's many quirky characters, you'll find several nuns, a GI shipping out to Vietnam, a zookeeper with big Hollywood dreams and his wife, Bananas, a schizophrenic headed for the titular institution. Written by John Guare (Six Degrees of Separation), this stirring exploration of celebrity, madness and marriage won the 1971 Drama Critics Circle Award for Best American Play. Reviewing a recent revival starring Ben Stiller, Variety said "it still sets the bar for smart comic lunacy."
