The Colored Museum
264 Huntington Ave Boston
The Colored Museum takes you on a madcap and stinging journey through 11 hilarious looks at African-American culture -- from the depths of the Celebrity Slaveship to the spinning heights of Harlem. The play skewers stereotypes and redefines what it means to be black in contemporary America. Penned by Tony Award winner George C. Wolfe, this landmark dark comedy has electrified, discomforted and delighted audiences of all colors since its off-Broadway debut in 1986. Billy Porter, Tony-winning star of Broadway's Kinky Boots, directs the Boston University Theatre staging of Wolfe's work, which remains as relevant as ever.
