Lyric Stage Boston presents Our Town

Lyric Stage opens the 2025/26 season with Thornton Wilder's timeless gem of the American theater, Our Town. Under the direction of Producing Artistic Director, Courtney O'Connor, the sleepy town of Grover's Corners will be brought to life by some of Boston's most treasured actors as they tell a story of community, family, and appreciating the moments both big and small.

The day starts and ends pretty much the same way in Grover's Corners. Beyond the humdrum of daily life, glimmers of joy, flickers of melancholy, and secret desires are hidden away in the mundane. It's in the eyes of young lovers, the silence of a lonely townie's room, and the hearts of the wild and restless. Stars shine over this sleepy New England town, but are dimmed when compared with the wonderment tucked away within the seemingly ordinary moments of this place so many call "home." Even in the smallest of moments, beauty is there. The secret is to stop and take notice.

Director Courtney O'Connor says. "Far from a saccharine period piece, I've long felt Our Town is a primal scream begging us to fully see, embrace, and deeply honor the beauty and the pain in our community, our loved ones, and ourselves, in our lives in moments big and small. I can't wait to explore with our artistic community, a combination of faces you've seen through many, many moments and ones we're meeting for the first time. Who we are, who we have been, and who we are yet to be are all contained within each of us, and they all equally share in the rich tapestries of our families, our stories, and our town."

Performances begin Friday, September 19 and run through Sunday, October 19.
