Beautiful: The Carole King Musical at North Shore Music Theatre

The North Shore Music Theatre in Beverly is opening its 2023 season with the iconic Broadway hit "Beautiful: The Carole King Musical". Taking place from June 6 to June 18, the Tony and Grammy Award-winning musical will showcase the inspiring true story of Carole King's early life and career as a singer-songwriter.

Before becoming the chart-topping legend, King was Carol Klein, a Brooklyn girl, who fought her way into the record business as a teenager, and persevered to become one of the most successful solo acts in musical history. The musical features her hit songs written by Gerry Goffin/Carole King and Barry Mann/Cynthia Weil, including "I Feel The Earth Move", "One Fine Day", and "You've Got A Friend" and "Beautiful".

"Beautiful: The Carole King Musical" chronicles the incredible journey of Carole King from a teenage songwriter to becoming an inductee in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. She struggled to break into the music industry and composed smash hits for renowned rock 'n' roll artists. Nonetheless, it was only when her personal life started to fray that she truly discovered her true voice.

The show will star Elena Ricardo, who played the role of Carole King in Broadway production, and wowed audiences with her performance in "Peter Pan" during NSMT's 2018 production. Other cast members include Jake Bentley Young (Gerry Goffin), Jessica Rush (Cynthia Weil), Jack Cahill-Lemme (Barry Mann), Reed Campbell (Don Kirshner) and Jean McCormick (Genie Klein).

The director and choreographer for the show is Marcos Santana, who also helmed last season's smash hit production of "Saturday Night Fever" in NSMT. The ensemble consists of outstanding performers such as Elizabeth Adabale, Courtney Blackmun, Kobe Brown, Justin Michael Duval, and Seth Eliser.

The production of "Beautiful" has received high acclaim and recognition with the world premiere happening in San Francisco in October 2013. It garnered Tony and Grammy Awards after its Broadway run that lasted for over 2,400 performances. The musical has toured across the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia and has received positive reviews.

Bill Hanney, owner and producer of NSMT, expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming show, stating that he's excited to kick off the 2023 season with a spectacular performance that reflects the life and work of one of the biggest names in rock 'n' roll.
