Broadway's Into the Woods combines a Tony-winning score by Stephen Sondheim with the iconic stories of Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Rapunzel and Jack (the giant killer). The result cleverly turns the fairy tale world on its head to deliver a deeper message about the nature of greed and whether "happily ever after" is even possible. Unable to bear children, a baker and his wife are lured into completing a number of tasks by a witch who promises to grant their wish, sending them on an eventful journey, where they encounter several familiar characters. With music and lyrics by Sondheim and a book by James Lapine, the original Broadway run won critical praise and numerous awards, including a trio of Tonys. The cast recording, which includes "Children Will Listen," "Giants in the Sky" and "No One Is Alone," took home a Grammy, and a movie is now in production for a Christmas 2014 release with an all-star cast including Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, Emily Blunt, Anna Kendrick and more.
