Millennium Approaches is part one of Tony Kushner's epic and often wickedly wry look at the early days of the AIDS epidemic, the political and social climate of America in the 1980s, and the disintegration of two very different but equally troubled young New York couples, whose fates become intertwined. Its large and wide-ranging cast of sharply-drawn characters includes the notorious Roy Cohn, the now-AIDS-stricken lawyer from the McCarthy hearings, and the apocalyptic Angel, who come together and clash over the personal, the political and the theological. This stirring and powerful work by Tony Kushner (Lincoln) won the Pulitzer Prize and the Tony Award for Best Play.
