Alternately hilarious and touching, Steel Magnolias is the story of the outspoken clientele of Truvy's Beauty Salon in Chinquapin, Louisiana. Any lady who is "anybody" in the town comes to get their hair done by the wise-cracking Truvy and her eager new assistant, Annelle. The group of women is very eclectic, made up of the town curmudgeon, an eccentric millionaire, the queen bee of the social set and her beautiful, diabetic daughter. When a sudden tragedy befalls the close-knit group of women, their inner strength and love for each other pulls them through. Filled with sharp banter, thoughtful moments and big hair, Steel Magnolias transports us into a charming world whose characters are great company in good times and bad.
