The Lion in Winter

Quannapowitt Players Theater
55 Hopkins Street Reading

The witty historical drama The Lion in Winter brings England's King Henry II and his family to raucous life. It's 1183 and royals Henry, his estranged wife Eleanor and their three grown sons, Richard, Geoffrey and John, gather at their winter palace for gifts, games and as much blood-letting as the Christmas holiday will allow. With questions of succession in the air, all three sons jockey to be named Henry's heir. Manipulation and intrigue abound in this lively script by James Goldman that was famously adapted into a film starring Katharine Hepburn, Peter O'Toole, Anthony Hopkins and Timothy Dalton. Now, The Lion in Winter returns to the stage in an exciting new production at the Quannapowitt Players Theater in Reading.
