Lyric Stage's Saturday Night/Sunday Morning Cast, Creative Team Announced

Saturday Night/Sunday Morning

Spiro Veloudos says of Saturday Night/Sunday Morning: "Audiences often say, 'I love new plays, but I've never heard of this next one that you're doing.' The Lyric Stage is proud to expose Boston audiences to playwrights like David Henry Hwang (Chinglish), Lynn Nottage (By the Way, Meet Vera Stark and Intimate Apparel), and Quiara Alegria Hudes (Water by the Spoonful). Katori Hall certainly belongs in that esteemed company. I'm excited to present her play, which personally introduces me to a time and place I don't know at all (Memphis in the 1940s), and takes me there with skilled storytelling that I find humane and universal."

And director Dawn M. Simmons adds: "Recently, during the Emmy Awards, Viola Davis said, "The only thing that separates women of color from anyone else is opportunity." This play was born out of that need, and I am grateful to Katori Hall and to the Lyric Stage for providing this wonderful opportunity for all of us involved."
