Mother Hicks

Mother Hicks

Paramount Center
559 Washington Street Boston

Mother Hicks follows the struggles of three outsiders -- a young foundling known only as "Girl," a deaf boy eloquent in the language of his own silence and eccentric recluse Mother Hicks, who is suspected of being a witch. The touching drama -- Part One of renowned playwright Suzan Zeder's The Ware Trilogy -- chronicles the journey these outcasts take in search of community, understanding and a place to call home. This evocative Depression-era story is told through poetry and sign language. The first chapter of Zeder's series unfolds at Emerson College's Paramount Theatre, in the heart of Boston, with companion productions taking place at Wheelock Family Theatre and Central Square Theater.
