Laura

Stoneham Theatre
395 Main Street Stoneham

First written as a novel by Vera Caspary, the 1944 film adaptation of Laura, starring Gene Tierney and Vincent Price, became a film noir classic. This stage version by Caspary and George Sklar, presented by Stoneham Theatre, fleshes out a rich collection of characters as it follows a hardboiled NYPD detective's quest to uncover the truth behind the apparent murder of successful advertising exec Laura Hunt. She was the ideal modern woman: beautiful, elegant, highly ambitious -- and utterly mysterious. As he delves deeper into the case, his obsession with the enigmatic Laura grows, as do the plot twists and turns. This stylistic dark psychological thriller will keep you on the edge of your seat until the final curtain.
