Holiday Pops has become a much-loved Boston Yule time tradition. For a few short weeks, historic Symphony Hall becomes a feast for the eyes and ears as conductor Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops perform beloved holiday music with a special guest appearance from Santa Claus. This year's program is highlighted by the songs that define this magical season, such as "White Christmas," the Boston Pops' signature "Sleigh Ride," the inspiring Hallelujah Chorus from Handel's "Messiah," and a popular rendition of "The Twelve Days of Christmas" featuring the majestic voices of the Tanglewood Festival Chorus. The Boston Pops will also perform "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" with narration, and each night's performance of "A Visit from St. Nicholas" will feature different guest narrators and projections from Jan Brett's timeless children's book above the stage. For more than 30 years, millions of New Englanders and visitors to Boston have experienced the wonder of the Holiday Pops concert.

Renowned for bringing a nuanced glimpse into Garland's complex personality and inner life, Mac was awarded the 2012 Southern California Motion Picture Council Golden Halo Award by Garland's co-stars Mickey Rooney and Margaret O'Brien for his respectful, stunningly accurate portrayal.

First performed in 1961, Black Nativity is a retelling of the Christmas story from an Afro-centric perspective, intended to explore the depths of cultural identity, pride and unity within the African-American community. It's lively, inspiring production for the whole family, infused with rich, moving live music, singing, dancing and storytelling.

Among the mysteries she tackles are a question that has intrigued historians throughout the ages: Whatever happened to the Magi's gold? ("We know that Mary used the frankincense and myrrh as a sort of potpourri -- they were in a barn, after all.") Sister will answer this question and more while creating a live nativity scene with plenty of class participation.

In this sweet -- albeit often dark -- Christmas show, three convicts on a work release program are employed as roofers by a struggling shopkeeper and his family. The trio takes pity on the kindly employer when they learn that he will lose his business when an overbearing and evil-minded cousin comes to audit the books. Using guile, a little romance and a well-behaved (and very poisonous) snake, the three craft a plan to set matters straight, achieve justice for the shopkeeper and gain redemption for themselves. My Three Angels is a fast-paced comedy that is, at its core, about the power of hope.

Set to a colorful Tchaikovsky score, The Nutcracker ballet tells the timeless story of Clara, a young girl who receives a wooden nutcracker soldier as a Christmas gift. That night she dreams that her nutcracker comes to life and, together, they battle the ferocious Mouse King. As he and Clara defeat the wicked beast, the nutcracker transforms into a handsome prince and takes Clara on a grand adventure to the Sugar Plum Fairy's magical Kingdom of Sweets.

Combining ballet, swing, flamenco, hip-hop, step and urban tap along with Tchaikovsky's classic score and Duke Ellington's signature swing, Tony Williams' Urban Nutcracker features a multicultural cast of talented dancers in this contemporary retelling of the classic fairy tale. Now in its 14th year, the production remains fresh with updated choreography, new costumes and surprise guest stars. Instead of the traditional children's roles "Clara" and "Fritz," though, this version of the story features the characters Clarice and Omar, whose roles are shared by six talented local kids, ages 9-13.
